Interlibrary Loan

What is InterLibrary Loan (ILL)?

InterLibrary loan is a service that allows you to request items that are not available in our collection from other libraries in the region.

  • These items can be picked up at Lake County Public Library and make take several weeks to arrive.

Items can be requested from our Marmot catalog or through Prospector.

  • You will need to sign in using the barcode number found on your library card and your password.
  • Contact the library if you need help. You can email us at lcpl@lakecountypubliclibrary.org or call us at (719) 486-0569.

Where do I pick up and return InterLibrary Loan items?

All items are picked up and returned at Lake County Public Library. You treat InterLibrary Loan items just like you would any other item from our library.

Can I renew InterLibrary Loan items?

Yes! InterLibrary Loan items renew just like LCPL items.

Renewal

For books and DVDs patrons may renew items up to 3 times as long as there are no holds on the item(s). If there are no holds on the item(s), they will renew automatically up to two times. Patrons can add one additional renewal manually.

Prospector loan renewals are dependent upon the policy of the lending library.

Revocation of Borrowing Privileges

Patrons’ borrowing privileges will be revoked when items are 7 days overdue; privileges will be reinstated upon the return of materials. In regards to Tool Library and Library of Things, borrowing privileges will be revoked for 6 months after 3 instances of overdue materials during a one-year period.

Lost and Damaged Materials

We do not charge for lost or damaged children’s or YA books or DVDs, with a limit of ten item fees waived per card per year. If you have questions about what materials are included or what it means for your library account, please contact lcpl@lakecountypubliclibrary.org or call 719-486-0569.

Patrons who have other lost or damaged library materials may either pay the price listed in our database or provide the library with a new copy.

If the patron finds a lost book he or she has paid for, the patron may bring the book into the library to receive a refund. It is up to the discretion of the director, circulation supervisor or most senior staff member present to provide a refund.
